Saving Energy with your HVAC and Hot water
Saving energy at home - hvac and hot water heater

HVAC (Heating and Air Conditioning) tips for saving energy

- Install a programmable thermostat - this will help save energy by allowing you to regulate the temperature when you are not home.

- Lower/raise your thermostat setting by 2 degrees - don't freeze yourself, but lowering the temp by just 2 degrees can save a lot of energy.

- Make sure all your HVAC ducts are well sealed and insulated

- Add insulation to your attic and/or crawl space

- Check your doors and windows for large air leaks and seal them - this can be an easy one, but can really save a lot of energy. Sealing that one big crack could make your house much more energy efficient.

Hot Water Heater tips for saving energy

- Use cold water to wash your clothes - Try this one out and see if your clothes don't come out just as clean.

- Install more efficient shower heads (less hot water saves energy, but will also help to save water)

- Put insulation around your water heater - easy to do and the energy savings can last for years.

- Lower your water temperature in your water heater to 120 degrees F - any hotter is really too hot.
